he midnight sun is a natural phenomenon that occurs in the summer months in places north of the Arctic Circle or south of the Antarctic Circle when the sun remains visible at the local midnight.
A
round the summer solstice, approximately 21 June in the Northern Hemisphere, and 23 December in the Southern Hemisphere, the sun does not set below the horizon within a 24-hour period.  The number of days per year with potential midnight sun increases the closer one goes towards the pole.  Although approximately defined by the polar circles, in practice the midnight sun can be seen as much as 55 miles outside the polar circle.

ecause there are non-permanent human settlements in the Antarctic Circle, apart from research stations, the countries and territories whose populations experience the midnight sun are limited to those crossed by the Arctic Circle, the Canadian Yukon, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories, the nations of Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Greenland, Russia and the state of Alaska.

his is a beautiful Real Photo Card that captures the “Midnight Sun” in the Yukon published by “Cann Studios”.  Charles F. Cann had a studio in Fairbanks Alaska and I have found his cards ranging from mid 1920s to the mid-1950s.  I have not been able to find any other information on him or his photographs. We can narrow the dates on this card between 1930 and 1950 by the Ekc stamp box.

he card is in excellent condition with only minor wear and a clean, clear image and reverse.
The colors on the images are a more neutral B&W than the scan
